Kerry Schultz MSN/ARNP was born in Madrid, Spain and raised in Chicago, Houston and Durham, North Carolina. Her father was a captain in the Air Force and then served in the US Public Health Service requiring frequent moves as a child. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her Bachelor's of Nursing in 1995.
Kerry worked in the Burn Center at UNC-Chapel Hill for 5 years before working as an ICU traveling nurse for 3 years. She took a job at Harborview Medical Center in the Burn and Pediatric ICU in 2000 where she worked for 6 years. Kerry then completed her Masters of Nursing at the University of Washington in family medicine in 2004. She completed her training at the Valley Family Medicine Residency in Renton, Washington. Kerry then worked on campus in the Family Medicine Clinic at the UW student health center for 10 years before transitioning to working at Swedish Ballard Primary Care where she has practiced for the last 5 years.
Kerry and her husband Kurt Hayashida moved to Bainbridge 2 years ago with their 3 children, Ben, Luke and Kate to help support both sets of their parents. Kurt's family has been on the island for over 100 years farming strawberries. Kerry is excited to join the patient centered, evidence-based practice at Bainbridge Pediatrics.
When she is not working Kerry enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
